So many of us have fallen off the “Resolution Wagon” by now.  I am guilty as well…I admit…I have eaten a cookie or two or three, and not exercised as much as I should have.  But…That is why we need to renew our commitment to health again this week in order to keep our seat safe on the wagon.   Falling off the wagon is just painful!   Use the checklist below to help keep your spirits up and your goal within reach.  Email me with your success AND failure stories.  I would love to hear how you are coping with rededicating yourself to your health and wellness.

2010 … a New Decade…a New You!

….Re-imagine, Rejuvenate, Recharge, Re-invent

~ Rededicate yourself to your health and wellness

All the big influential contributors seem to be on the same wagon with a “New Decade…New You!”  While I don’t want to appear to be a follower…they pretty much summed it up for me.  So why reinvent the wheel?  I can offer you however my take on the new decade and it’s potential.  I personally feel refreshed and renewed…even with a crazy and complicated life that I am currently immersed in.  Every year at the end of the holidays I have, like most humans I would imagine, a sense of renewal but it generally doesn’t last past the 3rd or 4th of January.  Then, as every other year, the old habits wake up and walk back into my routine.   I purposely waited this year to post this message in anticipation of just that…but again…it is the 7th of January and I still feel refreshed and renewed.   So live on the edge and take a look at my calls for action for the new year and the new decade.  You DO have the power to change your circumstances and improve your overall well being.  You DO have the opportunity to feel refreshed and renewed and if you choose to engage in these 10 steps then you choose to rededicate yourself to your health and wellness.

I wish you and your family an abundance of health, peace and joy in 2010.

10 Steps to take in 2010 towards a new you.

  1. MASSAGE THERAPY  – Getting regular massages will not only make you feel AMAZING…but it will help maintain good health.  For more on this see future blogs or read About  Massage at my website:  ccbakermassage.com  or call Christine at (585) 734-2500 to set up an appointment.
  2. CHIROPRACTIC CARE – One of the best things you can do for your health.  Spinal health is key to a healthy lifestyle.  A healthy spine equals a happy body.   I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Kris Van Zeilen (585-227-8290) in Greece, NY.  He is a talented health professional that truly cares about your health and wellness.  http://www.vzfchiropractic.com/
  3. THERMOGRAPHY SCAN – Another piece to the puzzle.  I have lots more to say on this but I want to do it justice.  In the mean time please look at nydti.com for more information and please please feel free to email me personally with any questions about it.
  4. PHYSICAL/HEALTH AND BODY HEALTH ASSESSMENT – you can’t fix it if you don’t know it’s broken.  I am sure you are not broken…but get an assessment done from a trusted health care professional of your overall health to establish a “baseline” just to be on the safe side.   Whether you have a primary care physician or a holistic doctor, you need to know what you are dealing with when you go forth in your wellness plan.
  5. EXERCISE – Get up!  Get moving!  If you don’t use it…you WILL lose it.  Talk to your doctor/health care professional about exercise.  Explain your wellness goals and ask what activities would be appropriate for your situation.
  6. EAT RIGHT – much more to come on this as I am learning day by day as well.  For Christmas I received a subscription to Cooking Light from my sister so I am excited to try out recipes from there and share them with you.
  7. EXPLORE – try something new.  It really makes you feel like a kid again…there is the curiosity about discovering how to do something and the nervousness about doing it wrong.  I hope to try 12 new things this year. Whether that be a type of food or a new craft medium, I am determined to expand my comfort zone and try new things.  What will you try this month?
  8. LEARN – Learning is almost addicting to me.  I am constantly in search of new things to learn about.  I can never get enough.  Yes, I was that student who actually got excited mid July about returning to school and would label all of my new school supplies, even the pencils.  Back to the topic at hand though…go out and learn something new, read a book, ask a loved one questions about their history…you can turn anything into a learning experience and yes…you have my permission to combine #7 and #8 whenever possible.
  9. REACH OUT – this is always a goal of mine every new year.  Reach out to people that perhaps you lost contact with or you don’t talk to as often as you probably should.    You can also take it a step further and literally reach out to people less fortunate than yourself.  Make scarves for a homeless shelter or make it a point to help with the food cupboard.  While it can feel a bit risky to step outside your comfort zone on this one…the end result will feel amazing!
  10. TIME OUT – now that you have worked so incredibly hard to improve yourself…reward yourself and take a break!  Take time for yourself every day where there is no noise, no distractions.  You don’t have to be anyone’s parent or child or friend or employee…you can just BE.  Clear your mind, fill your heart and rejuvenate your soul.   This kind of peacefulness is key to maintaining balance in our chaotic world.  You can choose to meditate, sit still or engage in energy rituals.  Whatever you decide just be sure to do this daily as it will give you the strength and the clarity of mind to get up tomorrow and start a new productive day.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  Here is to a healthy, productive and prosperous year!

iPhone as a Pocket Massager?

January 30th, 2009

While this is a wonderful and clever feature for the iphone, I strongly encourage you to use it for entertainment purposes only.   Massage if done incorrectly could cause harm.  That being said…I highly doubt that a vibrating phone would cause harm to you or anyone playing with your phone but it does illustrate the point of just letting the professionals do the work.  Clever feature….non clever results.

Update: It appears a similar feature is available for the XBox 360.

Happy Anniversary to Us!

October 9th, 2008

October 1st is my one year anniversary of being in business and I couldn’t be more excited to offer in celebration of this accomplishment a treat for all of my clients, old and new. I would love for you to be the first to sample my latest addition to my therapeutic services: Soothing Heat Therapy.

This new service incorporates all of the benefits of my standard massage enhanced with a soothing and relaxing heated hydrotherapy element.

Moist Heat Therapy causes the blood vessels to dilate. Applying this style of heat to the body brings fresh and nutritious blood to the area that is being treated, nourishing and cleansing the area.

In order to experience the optimal level of this beneficial massage, more time will now be allocated. A 30 minute massage will now be 45 minutes in length and priced at $45. A normal 60 minute massage will now be 75 minutes in length and priced at $75.

Exclusively for the month of October, the Soothing Heat Therapy Massage will be at a discounted price of $30 for a 30 minute massage and $60 for a 60 minute massage. That is a 20% savings that is exclusive to YOU. To ensure your discount please book and keep your appointment in October. Come try it out. I look forward to seeing you and getting your feedback on this new addition to my services.
